About the School Safety Action Committee: The horrific tragedy that occurred at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School has directly impacted our tight-knit community in a way that none of us could have ever imagined. The wounds are deep and it will be an extremely long, difficult process to heal. The Coral Springs Regional Chamber mourns for the victims, families and students that are forever impacted. Many of us had children in the school that day or know someone that did. This committee is designed to align school safety backed by action with key decision makers for the students in our community.
The Chamber's mission is to be the catalyst for economic prosperity throughout Northwest Broward. The Florida Chamber of Commerce has identified six pillars for economic development; quality of life and education are the two bookends of those pillars. Thus, we feel that as business leaders in our community, we need to ensure that our businesses feel that their families are safe. This is not a partisan issue, this is a human issue. We need to secure our children, employees and our brand as a state. We can all agree that there is no easy or single solution to this multifaceted issue, but we do need a comprehensive strategy to affect meaningful change.
